Ankur Garg joins EAII Advisors as EVP and country director in India
Evidence Action, a global nonprofit reaching hundreds of millions of people with the world’s most effective health and development solutions, welcomes Ankur Garg as the new executive vice president and country director overseeing our programs in India.
Ankur will lead EAII Advisors, Evidence Action’s technical partner in India, which delivers our Deworm the World, Equal Vitamin Access, and Safe Water Now programs in the country. EAII currently supports 11 state governments (Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh) to implement cost-effective health interventions – including treatment for safe drinking water – to fight poverty and preventable diseases.
With a proven track record of launching and scaling impactful initiatives, Ankur has a wealth of experience addressing global and local challenges and working with diverse stakeholders across government, civil society, media, and private sector. He supported India's first solar rooftop policy, provided technical assistance to the flagship Swachh Bharat Mission, and in his previous role at BBC Media Action, the BBC’s international development charity, led strategic vision, partnerships, and operations for India as country director.
“Ankur brings a powerful combination of passion, problem-solving skills, and a dedication to data-driven solutions. We’re excited to have him lead Evidence Action’s India programming at a pivotal moment,” said Kanika Bahl, Evidence Action’s CEO. “Under his leadership, we'll keep pushing the boundaries of health impact for millions. From leading the next chapter of our successful deworming and nutrition work to new and ambitious frontiers for safe water, we’ll continue to drive ambitious outcomes and opportunities for communities across India.”
Evidence Action’s interventions are uniquely positioned for major social impact in India. With a commitment to bringing transformative solutions with proven potential to hundreds of millions of people, we ground our programs in rigorous evidence and challenge conventional wisdom in order to scale what works. And, we use the best available data to continuously optimize our programs and demonstrate their impact.
In his own words: "I'm struck by the sheer scale and impact of Evidence Action programs,” said Ankur. “Supporting the government to operate the largest single-day public health program in the world, Deworm the World has radically increased productivity and changed the lives of a generation of Indian children. I’m inspired to continue these impressive strides with the exceptional EAII Advisors team, and push even further to deploy solutions that can truly ease the burden of poverty for hundreds of millions of people across India.”
