We’re so excited to announce that we’re a winner in the third annual Anthem Awards! We’ve been chosen as a gold-level winner in the health service category for our Safe Water Now program, which reaches millions of people with lifesaving access to safe water.
Our program focuses on water treatment, which is vastly neglected, despite the fact that rigorous research shows it can reduce one-quarter of all child deaths. For over a decade, we’ve taken that research and put it into action, using innovative and low-cost chlorination devices to save over 15,000 lives and avert 3 million cases of deadly diarrhea — all for less than $1.50 per person per year.
This type of work — using evidence-driven and cost-effective solutions to global challenges — is urgently needed. Two billion people don’t have access to water that’s free of deadly diarrheal diseases and pathogens, leading to the loss of over 1,000 young lives every day. And climate change is exacerbating this health crisis, making already-scarce safe drinking water even more precious.

The Anthem Awards are a social impact award celebrating purpose and mission-driven work from people, companies, and organizations around the world. In 2023 there were 2,000 submissions from 30 countries around the world. Winners were chosen by the Anthem Awards judges – a diverse group of leaders with wide-ranging expertise.
This award isn’t the first for Evidence Action – in 2023, we won Charity Navigator’s Community Choice Award. We’re also trusted by several charity evaluators and have built a reputation as one of the most transparent, high-impact charities.
